A setting can be a kind of character, even though it may not have emotions or we don’t know what it is thinking about, they can still have movements that cause events to happen. Usually characters cause conflict with other characters or even themselves. But can setting have conflicts with the characters or itself? Of course! The natural world may cause problems for the characters or itself. The natural world maybe the best kind of situation when the setting can be characterized. The natural world can be unpredictable and sometimes not caused by the other characters. There is always action then reaction, it is the basic for any events to happen. For example, the ocean is really unpredictable since it is liquid, it causes lots of problem, which is the action of the setting. The sailors or anyone sailing on the ocean will have reaction about the action. Maybe in a forest, a natural fire started, all the characters that is related to the forest will have reactions on the natural fire which is the action in this event. All kind of situation can allow the setting to become a character. Sometimes stories are made with only setting as the character, then the story can describe the setting real well.
